Horsham Club Knockout 2021-22: Mansson – Taylor
Last Tuesday, I was up against Alex Taylor in the first round of the knockout. I drew White, and so, unsurprisingly, the Dragon Variation appeared on the board. I improved on our previous game with the theoretically recommended 16 Qh4; … Continue reading

Horsham Club Championship 2019-20: Mansson – Taylor
I started my campaign in this season’s club championship with a hard-fought win against Alex Taylor. Following a complex struggle where both sides committed inaccuracies, I finally managed to establish a winning advantage and press it home.
Horsham Club Knockout 2019-20: Mansson – Ashby
I got off to a winning started in the club knockout, winning with White against new club member Nick Ashby. He failed to find an effective plan as Black in a typical Maroczy Bind position; then several weak moves led … Continue reading

Last Tuesday, I played the final of the Quickplay Knockout against Brian Donnelly.
Horsham Club Championship 2018-19: Heath – Mansson
I scored what was a rather fortunate win in the club championship against Chris Heath earlier this month. I managed to fall into a passive position, and allow it to gradually drift downhill. My opponent had several chances to deliver … Continue reading
Horsham Club Knockout 2018-19: Bennet-Stevens – Mansson
My game against Lucy Bennet-Stevens, one of our best juniors, in the club championship ended in a steady win for me. A balanced hedgehog position arose out of the opening. My opponent then failed to prevent me from playing …b5, … Continue reading
