Sussex recently scored a very good win at home against Essex. I was able to contribute a draw with the Black pieces. The game opened with the Catalan Opening and I took the pawn. I had a chance to hold … Continue reading

Horsham Club Quickplay Knockout 2017-18: Mansson – Taylor
I was up against Paul Taylor in the semi-final of the Horsham Chess Club Quickplay Knockout. The match was a tough encounter that I could easily have lost, but I managed to prevail in the sudden death playoff game.
Blast from the Past: Scruton – Mansson, BPCF Open Championship Preliminary Round
The last game from my first BPFC Open Preliminary Round section that I’d like to look at is my Black win against R.Scruton. This was a rather gritty struggle in which neither side’s play was especially distinguished; I eventually prevailed … Continue reading
County Match (Open) 2012-13: Sussex – Bedfordshire

4NCL Division 3 2011-12: e2e4.org.uk 2 – Guildford 3
Unlike the match on the previous day, our match against Guildford 3 was a much tighter affair, which we just managed to win 3.5-2.5. An amusing aspect of the line up, for me anyway, was that our opponents, Guildford 3, … Continue reading

Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2010-11: Horsham 1 – Crowborough 1
The crucial match between Horsham 1 and Crowborough 1 was played on Tuesday night, and the current situation does not look good for Horsham. Dix Roberts and I drew our games against Robert Elliston and Gareth Anthony fairly quickly, while … Continue reading
