Horsham Club Championship 2021-22: Heath – Mansson
Last Tuesday I had a tough game against Chris Heath in the club championships. The game developed in my favour at first, as my opponent’s Grand Prix Attack didn’t seem to be going anywhere. However, I started to play indifferently, … Continue reading
Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2021-22: Horsham 1 – Worthing 1
Last night, Horsham 1 made a successful trip to Worthing to play Worthing’s first (and this year only) team.
Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2021-22: Horsham 1 – Hastings 2
Horsham 1, not entirely surprisingly, did rather better against Hastings 2 than Hastings 1. Mike Forster secured a quick win with the Evans Gambit on board four, I managed to build up and convert a dominating position on board three, … Continue reading
County Match (Open) 2021-22: Sussex – Middlesex
I played in the Sussex home match against Middlesex last Saturday. The match was complicated for all concerned with general traffic issues affecting the area. The boards and pieces arrived with minutes to spare, while a number of players, particularly … Continue reading
Horsham Club Quickplay Knockout 2021-22: Mansson – Harbott
I was up against Peter Harbott in the Semi-Final of the quickplay knockout. In the end it was a fairly straightforward 2-0 win, although there were a few nervy moments in the second game in particular.
Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2021-22: Horsham 1 – Hastings 1
Last night, Horsham 1 made the trek down to Hastings for their match against their 1st team. Ultimately, they came up short, as their opponents registered a 3-1 victory.
County Match (Open) 2021-22: Surrey – Sussex
Last Saturday I played for Sussex against Surrey in a twelve-board match at Cheam. Unfortunately, the match was a comfortable win for Surrey, and I lost my individual game.
Horsham Club Championship 2021-22: Mansson – Comley
I had a rapid rematch with Ian Comley, whom I played in the Mid-Sussex League in my previous game, this time in the Club Championship. This time I was playing White.

Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2021-22: Horsham 1 – Horsham 2
The Mid-Sussex League has restarted, with a slightly adjusted format; matches are now over four boards. As is customary, teams from the same club in the same division must play each other first before playing other clubs. Horsham 1 and … Continue reading
Horsham Club Quickplay Knockout 2021-22: Mansson – Broom
Last night I won an exciting match in the quickplay knockout third round, to progress to the semi-final. I was paired against Mark Broom, one of the strongest players in the club.
