Horsham 1 played Worthing 1 last night. Unfortunately, the team lost the match narrowly (1.5-2.5) but I was at least able to win my game.
I gained a good position with the Black pieces against Alec Hedger, as my opponent’s king was awkwardly placed in the centre. There were a few twists and turns, as my advantage increased and decreased; these included a mutual oversight, as I failed to take full advantage of a blunder by my opponent. In the end, my opponent cracked with both of us running very short of time; I was able to wrap the game up in fairly short order.
I give the game below with some detailed notes.
