On Tuesday I was up against Anthony Higgs in the Club Championship. I needed a win to keep my hopes alive, but the game ultimately ended in a draw, meaning that Mark Broom is now champion – congratulations to him!
The game started rather solidly, but turned in my favour as my opponent made a misjudgement. Unfortunately, I returned the favour, then slipped up again, allowing my opponent to take control of the position. The one factor in my favour, though, was my opponent’s extreme time shortage, which induced him to bail out when he still had good chances of winning.
I give the game below with some notes.
