Last night, Horsham 1 scored a decisive 3.5-0.5 win at home against Lewes in the Mid-Sussex League. I managed to win my game as Black against Jonathan Britnell.

County Match (Open) 2022-23: Surrey – Sussex

I played for Sussex in the away match against Surrey yesterday, and the result was disappointing both on a personal level and for the team. Surrey lost the match decisively 5-11, which was not surprising perhaps given the difference in strength between the teams.

Paul Watson Trophy 2022-23: Horsham – East Grinstead

Last night, Horsham was knocked out of the Paul Watson Trophy by East Grinstead, as they lost the match 1-3. My game was a draw, in which I missed an early opportunity, and was fortunate my opponent did not make the most of his chances.

Horsham Chess Club Quickplay Knockout 2022-23: Mansson – Trofin

Yesterday night was the last meeting of the club before Christmas. I took the opportunity to play my third round match in the Quickplay Knockout Plate Competition against Marian Trofin. I managed to win 2-0, taking me into the semi-final.

Last night I managed to win a tough game against Robert McDonald in the second round of the club knockout. At one point I was in a lot of trouble, but I managed to wriggle out in the complications. In the end, I was able to exploit my extra exchange in the endgame.
