As part of the ongoing effort to get club competition games played promptly, last night was devoted to playing the first couple of rounds in the Quickplay Knockout and associated Plate competition.
Each match is contested over two games, with 10 ten minutes each for all moves. If the score is tied after these games (i.e. there has been a win apiece or two draws), then the match goes into “sudden death”, with the two players contesting further 10 minute games until one of them wins one.
My first round match was against Julie Denning. I managed to win both regulation games, and so avoided going into sudden death.
I give the games below with brief notes.
My second round match from the same night will feature in my next post.
