Sussex League Division 1 2024-25: Horsham 1 – Hayward Heath 1

Last night, Horsham 1 were playing away in the Sussex League against Haywards Heath 1. We managed to secure a comfortable victory thanks to wins on the lower boards.

I was White against Viv Cole on board three. I managed to gain a big advantage out of the opening, but miss a chance to establish a winning position. In the subsequent play there were more inaccuracies, but I manged to outmaneuver my opponent; the game ended when I found a neat combination that won at least a piece. Admittedly at the very end I didn’t find the quickest win, but it was good enough to persuade my opponent to resign.

I give the game below with some notes.
