Last night, I played Mark Broom in round five of the club championship. Unfortunately for me, Mark got the better of the game and secured an important victory.
I was playing back and the game developed into a Reti Opening. Play was about level to start with, but after some inaccuracies, I came under some pressure. I did manage to gain some counterplay as my opponent didn’t find the best continuation, but then some subsequent mistakes by me allowed my opponent to secure first a clear and then a winning advantage.
I give the game below with some notes.
